My Top Recommended Babymoon Destinations in the U.S. as a Luxury Travel Advisor

Babymoons are one of the sweetest reasons to take a trip in my opinion, and I love planning them for clients. It’s that rare little window of time where it feels like everything is standing still, yet there’s tremendous change on the horizon. The best time to soak in the present if you ask me!

Babymoons offer a few days to press pause from the planning and anticipation and soak up quality time with your partner, uninterrupted.

As someone who experienced this season firsthand last year, I’ve found that my definition of a great babymoon has shifted just a tad. I care far less about squeezing in every last bucket list to-do, and much more about comfortable beds, easy flights, really exceptional food, and destinations that make it easy to relax.

Many clients prefer to stay domestic for safety and health reasons, and I have a great list of recommendations for those who are looking for a U.S. getaway. I also did a full post on babymoon itinerary details and some priorities I would recommend for planning if you want to check that out too!

My Top Recommendations for a U.S. Babymoon

The St. Regis Longboat Key | Florida

This is one of my favorite newer recommendations.

The resort stretches out on a beachfront property overlooking the Gulf Coast. It’s marketed as a ‘sophisticated sanctuary’ and I think that’s the perfect description.

18 acres, renowned butler service, and suites that feel more like residential interiors make this resort a place you’ll want to stay for much longer than just a long weekend. (So I recommend you book a week :).)

There are plenty of leisurely activities to enjoy like bicycle rentals or reserving a private cabana. They also have plenty of dining options with an afternoon tea available upon request.

And I love that the resort is family-friendly with a children’s club. It’s a great spot to vacation to for a babymoon and then again once baby is here!

The Boca Raton | Florida

I love The Boca Raton because the property offers plenty of options. I certainly don’t advise babymooners to plan too much more than a spa reservation or grand dinner, but the Boca Raton has just enough for the couple looking to do a bit more.

There’s golf, fitness activities, tennis and pickleball. They also offer boating outings. Of course, there’s the pool and beach waiting to be enjoyed for those who want full rest and relaxation, but there’s no shortage of things to do here if you get a wild hair.

I also love that the property feels like its own little world, so you don’t feel the need to venture into the city. Everything is right where you are!

The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee | Georgia

One thing I constantly have to remind clients: Your babymoon doesn’t require a beach. Especially when second trimester hits during the fall/winter months! A cozy lake weekend can be just as exciting and luxurious feeling.

Lake Oconee is close enough to feel easy but far enough away to feel like you’ve escaped. The spa is so wonderful and the grounds are meticulously kept. It’s a popular spot, but still I’d say its underrated.

Especially if you live somewhere that is a good distance from a beach, this is a great spot to enjoy the water without having to go too far.

Keswick Hall | Virginia

It’s crazy to me how many people aren’t familiar with this property! Keswick Hall is just under a 3-hour drive from Washington DC. It’s located in Charlottesville which is the most quaint little town if you’ve never been.

The resort boasts beautiful countryside views and offers a state-of-the-art spa. There are dining options on-site, but there is also plenty to do in the city of Charlottesville.

I like to recommend this spot for late spring through early fall trips. Unless you don’t mind the chance of being snowed in during winter. Although I can’t say there would be a more cozy babymoon than that!

The Lodge at Primland | Virginia

Another Virginia favorite! And another property with plenty to do for the couples who wants a fuller itinerary. Golf, birdwatching, tennis and trailing are just a few of the activities you can find at Primland.

I’d say this resort is very centered around the mountains and outdoor terrain that surrounds it. There’s also a level of health and wellness layered into the overall aesthetic which I love for babymoons.

The Lodge at Primland is part of the Auberge Collection, so if you’re familiar with The Dunlin, you’ll know the level of excellence that awaits at this property.

Palm House | Florida

Okay here’s one for the couple who wants FUN! And honestly, I think that’s an underrated quality when it comes to babymoons.

The design is colorful and playful and the entire experience of staying here feels really lighthearted and celebratory. The hotel has a beautiful pool and they also offer beach service.

Plus, Palm Beach is incredibly walkable, and if you’ve never been, you’ll want to do a bit of exploring. It’s such a fun town to visit and meander around.

I love to recommend this one for the couple who still wants a little energy mixed into a restful trip.

Southall Farm & Inn | Tennessee

Another underrated destination, Southall Farm & Inn has somehow successfully found the intersection of luxury, wellness, and Southern hospitality. Think fly fishing, falconry, morning yoga, a farm tour. It’s a little more ‘granola’ in the very best way.

Especially if you’re someone who isn’t prone to choosing these sort of ‘wellness’ properties on a typical day, I think it can be a fun way to shake up your babymoon. It offers a peaceful property with the added flair of health and wellness.

My one word for this property would be ‘restorative’ which in my opinion is everything you want your babymoon to be.

The Dunlin Auberge | South Carolina

The Dunlin has quickly become one of my favorite properties in the South. Maybe because it’s so close to where we live or maybe because it really is just that good.

Everything about it feels so thoughtful. I love the interiors, the color selections, the bedding selections. Everything works beautifully together to create this oasis of rest.

For a babymoon specifically, the Dunlin offers an ideal balance of luxury and simplicity. I honestly prefer to just sit on the porch and unwind when I’m there. Maybe take a bike for a spin!

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island | South Carolina

The Sanctuary has been a staple for a while now, but there’s something about it that just feels timeless rather than outdated.

It could be the fact that the beaches are stunning and The Sanctuary has built this reputation of elegance in the most non-stuffy way.

I love this property because while it offers great beach access, it’s really not centered as a beach property and there are plenty of other things to do. The pools are sometimes my preference too even though the beach is mere steps away.

It just feels easy here, and I think it’s a perfect low-key spot for the babymooners who just want a little reprieve from the mundane!

Montage Palmetto Bluff | South Carolina

There has been so much hype around this property and for good reason. If I had to create the ideal babymoon destination from scratch, this would be it.

Bike rides, oak trees, long dinners, beautiful interiors and exteriors, front porch swings, marsh views, and an entire community that feels straight from a movie. There is no way not to relax while you’re here.

It feels really romantic and still restorative. And I’m sure you’ll be back with baby in tow! Plus, Bluffton has grown into the cutest little town and has great restaurants if you want to venture beyond the property!

Sea Island | Georgia

Sea Island has been setting the standard for Southern hospitality for generations.

This is the perfect property if you want the full beach babymoon without the added distsance if you’re north of Charleston.

I don’t think the service can be matched anywhere else. The grounds are breathtaking, and the interiors are classic yet noteworthy.

I’d say the spa is a must and if there’s a golfer in your duo, there is nowhere better to play!

And an added bonus - No need to leave the property during your stay, but St. Simons Island is a really great little town and has wonderful shops and dining options should you want to venture out a bit!

Little Palm Island | Florida

We’re ending with a banger… Little Palm Island is a true bucket-list worthy babymoon. I recommend it for all types of trips, but I think it’s great for an expecting couple because it really is so beautiful and still within the U.S.

Here’s the catch - it’s only accessible by boat. So the morning sickness surely needs to be kicked if this where you’re headed. There is no agenda needed - the property just invites you to unwind while you’re there and experience where you are.

If I were going on a babymoon today, this is where I’d be headed. Only visit their website if you’re ready to book a trip because it’s really that good.

Oh and if you do want to go beyond the U.S. borders, might I recommend Antigua! This is the destination we chose while expecting Wallace, and I loved every minute. You can read about our experience here.

Parting Advice for Babymoons

When couples begin researching babymoons, they often focus on the destination first.

I encourage you to think about how you want the trip to feel instead.

Do you want to be completely unplugged? Do you want beach walks? Spa treatments? Activities? A new and exciting place? What time of year?

These questions all matter when it comes to planning. The best babymoon isn’t necessarily the farthest destination or the most expensive hotel. It’s the one that gives you the space to slow down and enjoy one another’s company.

If you’re in this season, I’d love to help you plan your trip. You can always fill out my inquiry form so we can get the conversation going!
