A Babymoon in Antigua: My Favorite Peaceful Escape (and Two Resorts Worth Booking)
If you’re dreaming of a trip where your biggest decision is “beach or pool,” Antigua is the place. Peaceful, low-key and effortlessly luxurious, this Caribbean island was everything we hoped for and more during our babymoon.
Whether you’re planning a babymoon in Antigua, a romantic getaway or just need a full reset, I can’t recommend it enough. Here’s a full recap of where we stayed, what stood out and why this destination is perfect for slowing down.
Why Choose Antigua for a Babymoon?
Antigua is ideal for travelers who want to stay put and relax. This isn’t the kind of destination where you need to chase excursions or check off a list of sights. Most travelers (including us!) stay at their resort the entire time, and that’s by design.
While we did rent a car, we quickly realized that the island is very resort-centric. You’re not coming here to roam, you’re coming here to unwind. It was the perfect setting for a babymoon: calm, easy and surrounded by natural beauty.
And an added bonus: the travel was incredibly smooth, especially for Southeast-based travelers. Flights were quick and connections seamless, making this an easy Caribbean escape if you’re traveling from cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston or Miami. The Atlanta airport offers a few direct flights, but even with connecting flights, it’s an all-around easy travel experience!
Resort Review: Hermitage Bay
Let’s talk about the showstopper: Hermitage Bay.
This is the kind of place that leaves you speechless from the moment you arrive. Yes, it’s a splurge, but for a special occasion or luxury finale to your trip, it’s absolutely worth it.
We stayed in a Hillside Pool Villa, which felt like a secluded, elevated treehouse tucked into the lush greenery. Private plunge pool, jaw-dropping views, total privacy. That said, every room on the property is stunning. There truly isn’t a bad room in the bunch.
Highlights from Hermitage Bay:
Luxury + Privacy: Think private pools, insane views and attention to every detail you encounter.
Unreal Culinary Program: The food was anything but expected. Caribbean food was the center of every meal, and we loved every bit of it. We (well, Adam) were treated to three sushi courses for a 4 p.m. snack prepared by a Nobu Barbuda chef. That’s enough to make you want to stay here.
Fresh Renovation: The resort underwent a full renovation in October, and everything feels fresh, updated and beautifully maintained.
Shell-Worthy Beaches: The beach here is truly unmatched. Calm waves, powder-soft sand and the prettiest shells I’ve ever collected. Many travelers ask me about seaweed, and it was no where to be seen in Antigua.
Resort Review: Blue Waters
We split our stay between Hermitage Bay and Blue Waters Antigua, and I loved the variety that brought to our trip.
Where Hermitage Bay felt ultra-secluded and romantic, Blue Waters was easygoing, open and incredibly peaceful. It’s a beautiful, all-inclusive property that comes at a surprisingly accessible price point, especially if you're staying for several nights.
What We Loved About Blue Waters:
Great Value for a Luxury All-Inclusive: Truly one of the best-priced luxury resorts in Antigua with an all-inclusive model that doesn’t feel generic.
Laid-Back Luxury: Quiet, calm and full of couples and travelers enjoying the same slow pace we were craving.
Incredible Beach Access: The beach here rivals any I’ve seen. Calm water, plenty of space and perfect for long walks or floating in the sun.
Effortless Experience: Once you arrive, everything is taken care of. Excellent food, helpful staff and a “don’t lift a finger” kind of atmosphere.
If you’re looking for luxury resorts in Antigua with a focus on serenity, wellness and elevated service, this is your spot.
Our Babymoon Takeaways
This trip reminded me that luxury doesn’t have to mean busy. Antigua offered the kind of ease I wish more destinations delivered — a true “show up and just be” kind of place. We unplugged, ate very well and soaked in every slow morning and sunset swim.
And splitting the trip between two resorts was an unexpected delight. It gave us two distinct experiences without any extra planning or stress. From the lush hillside seclusion of Hermitage Bay to the easygoing calm of Blue Waters, we got to enjoy the best of both.
Last thing — I was reminded how critical those tiny details can be when traveling. We noticed the small extra gestures during turn down service and the properties’ welcome experiences. They were the added cherry on top of our already sundae-worthy trip, but they made all the difference. These are just a few of the perks (to name a few) that you can expect when working with me. And I believe they’re what makes traveling feel so effortless and luxurious.
