A Gift Guide for the Travel Lover

We all have that friend or family member who always seems to have a trip on the calendar. The one who seems to be on a flight every weekend, has every travel gadget known to man and can fit 10 days’ worth of outfits into a carryon suitcase.

With the holidays quickly approaching, I thought it would be a good time to offer suggestions of what to give that someone you’re thinking of right now. Not another set of packing cubes or a water bottle to stash in the cupboard, but things that (even if by chance they already own them) show that you intentionally thought about their interests.

Whether you’re shopping for a frequent flyer, a friend with a big trip planned, or a couple with a honeymoon on the horizon, this list is packed with thoughtful, travel-inspired finds (plus a reminder that you can always gift my services, of course!).

And while my ShopMy storefront primarily focuses on packing guides, it’s also serves as a great place to get inspiration for the traveling friend or loved one.

Tech-Related Gifts

  1. AirFlys: These have been around for a minute yet I still haven’t seen anyone else using them on a flight, so I know they’re a hidden gem. This little device plugs into the outlet on the plane screen and connects via Bluetooth to the traveler’s AirPods so that they don’t have to use the wired plane headphones. Such a game changer for someone who flies regularly and owns AirPods.

  2. BOSE Headphones: Better yet, give the gift of more comfortable headphones. While I love my Airpods, I find they don’t exactly leave my earlobes feeling great after 6+ hours of wear. If you know of a frequent traveler without old school headphones and can swing the price tag, I highly recommend.

  3. 3-In-1 Charging Station: I use this at home, but it makes for a great travel gift. Rather than rounding up all the chargers, this one can power up a phone, watch and AirPods at the same time. There are plenty of price points available out there, but this one from Tumi is especially chic.

  4. JBL Go Speaker: This would have to match a certain destination, but the worst thing is sitting on a beach, cocktail in hand or wanting to get ready for a fun night without some tunes. It doesn’t take up much space in the luggage and can be a fun addition to group travels.

  5. Portable Charger: And this isn’t your standard charger. It can power up a laptop or phone (a few times). I was recently reminded not everyone aircraft has an outlet quite yet, so this guy comes in handy for anyone on the go often.

Packing and Organization

  1. Cadence Cubes: At this point, I think everyone has packing cubes, but what about product cubes? These little magnetic containers store liquids, medications, face moisturizers, hair products, etc. so you don’t have to bring every package or bottle you own of your products. These are ideal for the travelers who refuse to use the hotel-supplied shampoo and conditioner and have a lineup of 10+ skincare products that never fit in the suitcase.

  2. Hat Magnet: A great gift if you know a couple or friend headed on a sunny getaway anytime soon. It is so impossible to safely pack a beloved hat without damaging it or causing a misshape. I recently discovered hat magnets at a golf tournament and wandered why I didn’t invent these. How smart! They keep your hat clipped to your bag so that you don’t have to carry it through the airport, but it also doesn’t end up stuffed in the bottom of a bag under the seat in front of you.

  3. Tumi Just In Case Tote: There’s not another personal bag like it. It feels like the old Vera Bradley bags that seemingly never ran out of storage. These slip perfectly onto the handle of a rolling suitcase so you don’t have another thing on your shoulder, and literally fit everything. I always pair it with a carryon and somehow it always fits under the seat in front of me. There are plenty of colors and I’d consider this unisex, too!

  4. Passport Case: For the traveler who has everything… Perhaps they have this too, but it’s a nice upgrade and really elevates your full luggage line-up. Plus if you have someone in mind who travels all the time, maybe they want to switch things up every now and again.

Comfort and Ease

  1. Minnow Neck Pillow: I can bet your traveling friend has a neck pillow, but surely not one this cute. Minnow branched out in small accessories, and I couldn’t be more obsessed. This looks custom and is a great price point for a gift swap or girlfriend who has a big trip coming up.

  2. Cashmere Wrap: This is a favorite of mine to really spoil the adventurer in your life. This can be used on the plane, for chilly tropical evenings or when an unexpected cold front makes it way through a city. It’s perfectly packable and really beautiful. Honestly, anything by Alice Walk is a yes in my book.

  3. Anything SPANX: Spanx makes incredible loungewear, and it doubles as appropriate airport wear. My favorite thing about Spanx is that it can be perfect for a friend or your grandma. Their Airessentials line is everything.
